The Night That Changed Everything
A College Story of Friendship, First Impressions, One Reckless Night, and a Lesson Nobody Expected

โSometimes one ordinary night is enough to turn a group of friends into a story they will remember for the rest of their lives.โ
Chapter 1 โ Three Friends, One Flat
Shikhar, Manish, and Ravi were MBA students.
They were in their first year, living together in a rented flat near their college. Like most college roommates, their lives revolved around classes, assignments, late-night conversations, food, parties, and the occasional argument over absolutely nothing.
But the three friends were very different.
Shikhar was quiet and simple. Coming from a traditional business family, he wasn’t the kind of person who tried to attract attention. He usually thought before he spoke.
Manish was also relatively quiet. He wasn’t extremely extroverted and didn’t talk unnecessarily. When he did speak, however, his words usually had a purpose.
Then there was Ravi.
Ravi was the complete opposite.
He was outgoing, talkative, confident, and could start a conversation with almost anyone.
The three had become close friends and, over time, their rented flat had become their little world.
Chapter 2 โ The Circle Gets Bigger
Ravi already had a girlfriend who lived in another flat nearby.
Through her, the group became connected with several other students.
One of their batchmates, Prerna, lived downstairs. She was dating Mudit, another student from their circle.
Mudit had a friend named Ashwin.
Soon, the group became quite large.
Everyone lived in the same society.
Everyone knew everyone.
There were spontaneous parties, late-night food sessions, conversations on balconies, college gossip, and endless jokes.
It was the kind of college life where nobody needed a formal invitation.
Someone would simply message:
โBro, we’re downstairs.โ
And ten minutes later, everyone would be together.
Chapter 3 โ The Girl From the Basketball Court
One ordinary day at college, Manish met a girl while playing basketball.
It wasn’t anything dramatic.
Just a simple introduction.
A quick:
โHi.โ
A little conversation.
And then they went their separate ways.
For Manish, it was just another normal college interaction.
A few days later, however, he came across the girl on Instagram.
Her name was Janvi.
Manish followed her.
Unexpectedly, Janvi messaged him first.
โHi, Manish.โ
Manish replied.
They started talking.
โHow are you?โ
โWhat are you doing?โ
โWhat are your plans tonight?โ
The conversation lasted roughly half an hour.
Then, unexpectedly, Janvi shared her phone number.
The casual Instagram conversation had suddenly moved to phone calls.
Chapter 4 โ The Invitation
That evening, Manish was hanging out at the flat with Shikhar.
Ravi was with his girlfriend.
Manish and Janvi continued talking on the phone.
At some point, Manish casually said:
โIf you’re free, come over. We’re just sitting here. We can have a small party.โ
Janvi agreed.
Manish went downstairs on his Bullet to pick her up from the society gate.
Shikhar stayed at the flat.
A few minutes later, Manish returned with Janvi.
The three of them were together.
Drinks were arranged.
Music was playing.
Everyone was relaxed.
It was supposed to be nothing more than an ordinary college-night gathering.
But the night had other plans.
Chapter 5 โ When the Night Went Too Far
The drinking continued.
Janvi eventually warned them.
โGuys, don’t drink too much. Otherwise things can get out of control.โ
But nobody really listened.
Manish and Shikhar continued drinking.
The atmosphere became increasingly chaotic.
Everyone was intoxicated.
At some point, Janvi and Manish became physically close.
Shikhar was still in the room.
Manish eventually told him:
โBro, can you step outside for a while?โ
Shikhar understood.
He quietly left the room.
The night continued.
Manish and Janvi became intimate.
Afterward, Manish went to the washroom.
The flat had only one bedroom, and Shikhar couldn’t comfortably sleep elsewhere.
Manish eventually told him:
โBro, come inside and sleep.โ
Shikhar returned.
Janvi was still there.
She was resting under the blanket.
Shikhar lay down nearby.
He did not take things further with her.
The night eventually became quiet.
Chapter 6 โ The Morning After
Morning arrived.
The atmosphere was completely different.
The previous night’s chaos had disappeared.
Other friends began arriving at the flat.
Ravi.
Prerna.
Mudit.
Ashwin.
Soon, everyone was together.
Manish introduced Janvi to the group.
She was a junior from another course, BJMC, while Manish was her senior.
Everyone talked over tea.
But there was one problem.
Because of the way everyone had found the three sleeping in the same room, people immediately started teasing Shikhar and Manish.
โWhat happened here?โ
โShikhar, you were involved too?โ
The jokes continued.
Shikhar tried to ignore them.
Janvi eventually booked a cab and left for her flat.
Everyone assumed that was the end of the story.
It wasn’t.
Chapter 7 โ The Second Invitation
Some time later, Manish invited Janvi again.
This time, things were supposed to be more controlled.
During their conversation, Janvi mentioned that she had taken emergency contraception after their previous encounter.
She was worried about the consequences.
Manish reassured her.
The two continued talking.
Eventually, Janvi left.
But the connection between them didn’t completely disappear.
Another meeting was arranged later.
This time, the group had planned to smoke cannabis.
The plan was simple.
But once again, things didn’t go according to plan.
Chapter 8 โ The Phone Call
Janvi had come to the flat without telling her parents where she actually was.
She was supposed to be somewhere else.
Then her phone rang.
It was her family.
She answered the video call.
At first, she tried to explain that she was at a friend’s place.
But her family immediately became suspicious.
Her location didn’t match what they expected.
The situation became serious very quickly.
Her family told her that an aunt would come to pick her up.
Janvi was terrified.
The people in the flat realized that this wasn’t a joke anymore.
Chapter 9 โ The Escape Plan
Downstairs, Prerna was in her room with Mudit and Ashwin.
The group quickly started thinking about what to do.
Janvi needed to get somewhere safe before her aunt arrived.
But there was another problem.
The rented flat belonged to Shikhar, Manish, and Ravi.
If Janvi’s family came directly to their flat, everyone could get into trouble.
The boys started moving around nervously.
Someone suggested that Janvi should go downstairs.
Everyone was suddenly thinking about one thing:
โWhat if her family finds out exactly where she is?โ
Chapter 10 โ The Threat
Then the situation became even more frightening.
Janvi’s parents were extremely angry.
During the video call, the family confrontation became intense.
Janvi’s father was holding a firearm and threatening to harm himself if she disconnected the call.
Suddenly, the entire situation stopped being funny.
This was no longer a college-night prank.
This was a genuine family crisis.
Janvi’s mother tried to calm him down.
Janvi kept talking to them.
She tried to prevent the situation from escalating.
Meanwhile, everyone around her was desperately trying to figure out how to get her safely home.
Chapter 11 โ The Wrong Flat Number
Then came the moment that almost gave everyone a heart attack.
Janvi’s aunt arrived at the society.
She started asking questions.
โWhich flat are you in?โ
Janvi had previously mentioned a flat number.
Her aunt remembered it.
1205.
That was enough.
The boys immediately panicked.
The flat was their rented place.
They couldn’t afford to be found there with Janvi.
Within seconds, the entire group went into emergency mode.
Chapter 12 โ The Great Escape
Shikhar.
Manish.
Ravi.
Ashwin.
Mudit.
Everyone started running.
There was no sophisticated plan.
No strategy.
Just pure panic.
They rushed upstairs.
Some people forgot their slippers.
Someone left belongings behind.
The entire situation looked like a badly organized action movie.
One person was running in one direction.
Another was shouting:
โBro, lock the door!โ
Someone else was asking:
โWhere are my shoes?โ
And in the middle of all this chaos, everyone had the same thought:
โIf the family calls the police, we’re finished.โ
Chapter 13 โ The Locked Door
The boys eventually locked the flat.
They disappeared upstairs.
Janvi’s aunt checked the society.
She looked around.
She questioned people.
She even checked the suspected flat.
But the door was locked.
Nobody answered.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Prerna and Ravi’s girlfriend tried to explain the situation.
They told Janvi’s aunt that Janvi had simply come to meet friends.
They tried to protect the group from unnecessary trouble.
Eventually, after checking the surroundings and talking to people, Janvi’s aunt managed to take her away.
The immediate crisis was over.
Chapter 14 โ After the Storm
Once Janvi had left, the group finally breathed again.
The tension slowly disappeared.
But now everyone had something to say.
Prerna and Ravi’s girlfriend were furious.
โWhy did you guys invite her?โ
โCouldn’t you find anyone else?โ
โYou could have dragged all of us into a huge problem!โ
Ashwin and Mudit were terrified.
They kept imagining the worst possible consequences.
Manish, however, remained strangely calm.
He simply sat there.
Shikhar was quieter.
The night had been too chaotic even for him to process.
Chapter 15 โ Never Again
Eventually, everyone agreed on one thing.
Janvi was never coming back to the flat.
Manish spoke to her once she was safely home.
There was no major argument.
No dramatic confrontation.
Just a simple understanding:
This should never happen again.
Both sides eventually blocked each other.
The chapter ended as suddenly as it had begun.
The End
Years later, the friends would probably remember that night and laugh about the chaos.
The missing slippers.
The locked door.
The frantic escape upstairs.
The panic over the police.
The endless accusations from their friends.
But beneath the humor was a serious lesson.
College life can make ordinary decisions feel harmless.
One invitation.
One party.
One late-night decision.
And suddenly, an ordinary evening can turn into a situation nobody expected.
For Shikhar, Manish, Ravi, Mudit, Ashwin and the others, that night became one of those unforgettable college memories.
Not because everything went perfectly.
But because everything went completely wrongโand somehow, everyone made it through.
And that was the night they learned one simple rule:
Some nights are meant to be remembered.
Some nights are meant to be learned from.
